Five armed robbers still at large

The Hercules police were on Thursday still searching for five armed men who allegedly robbed a Moot Pep store in Daspoort.

Five suspects are still at large after they robbed a Moot Pep store in Daspoort, Hercules, police said.

It is alleged that the five armed men entered the store on Wednesday morning and held-up six staff members and six customers.

“They took an undisclosed amount of cash from the tills and a large quantity of cell phones from the safe,” said the police spokesperson, Captain Bonginkosi Msimango.

The suspects then robbed the manager and the cashier of their cell phones.

“Three customers were also robbed of about R7 050. The suspects fled the scene in a silver-grey Toyota Hilux double cab,” Msimango said. No one was injured and no shots were fired during the robbery. The police are investigating a case of business robbery.

“We appeal to anyone with information to contact the Hercules police station on 012-377-4112,” Msimango said.
