Two alleged drug dealers arrested in Hazelwood

Police arrested two alleged drugdealers, aged 53 and 47, in Hazelwood after residents raised their concerns about drug activities in the area.

Two men from Soshanguve, aged 53 and 47 were arrested on Thursday for dealing and possession of dagga and the selling of counterfeit cigarettes in Pinaster Street, Hazelwood, police said.

Police spokeswoman Captain Colette Weilbach said residents in Hazelwood raised their concerns with regards to drug activities that are going on in Pinaster Street.

“The Brooklyn police in partnership with other law enforcement agencies did observations for weeks to gather information. On Thursday the police struck and arrested the two dealers. A total of 126.65 grams of dagga and loose boxes of counterfeit cigarettes were confiscated. Some 39 Dagga trees were also discovered close to the area where they used to operate.”

Weilbach said  two other men, aged 26 and 28, were also detained in connection with the case, but were later released.

The arrested men will appear in the Hatfield Community Court on Friday on drug related charges.

Brooklyn police want to thank the residents for trusting them with information and their concerns. Results are not always immediate because an investigation and observations are sometimes needed as in the above case to build a strong case against the suspects, before arrests can be made.
