Another drug bust in Wierda Park

Two suspects were arrested recently in Wierda Park while packaging drugs to be resold.

A case of drug dealing has been opened for investigation after two suspects were arrested, the police said on Friday. The two suspects, aged between 24 and 25, were arrested by the Wierdabrug police at around 11:30. The police spokesperson, Captain Agnus Huma, said members of the police received information from community members about drug dealing at an estate in Centurion.

According to Huma, the suspects were caught in the act and arrested while packaging the drugs in plastic packets to be sold. She said police confiscated different kinds of powders, rocks, scales to weigh the drugs, cash and invoice books to the value of R250 000.

Last week, two suspects were arrested in the parking lot of the Wierda Park KFC for being in possession of CAT. The chairperson of the CPF Sector 3, Hannes du Buisson, said the forum was determined to rid the community of drug dealers. “We will continue to work with the police to track these dealers down and have them arrested. We invite the community to come forward with any information regarding drug dealing. They can report these to the call centre and we will ensure that urgent attention is given to these matters. All information will be kept confidential.”

He further urged members of the community to attend the monthly meetings, which are held every last Monday of the month at 19:00 at the NG Kerk in Wierda Park South, Cotie Street. The community can call the 24-hour call centre and emergency numbers (072-837-5278 or 072-822-9312) to report drug dealing or any other criminal activities. The suspects are set to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court soon.
