Feed a Child responds to controversial video
"There was no intention to cause offence," said managing director of Feed a Child, Arnau van Achterbergh.
The video in which a child is being portrayed as a dog “is not intended to cause offence but merely to inform about the shocking societal truth that many domestic animals in South Africa are better fed than a lot of children”, Feed A Child said on Wednesday.
This controversial video awoke different emotions among viewers and sparked an intense debate on social networks.
“The commercial is intentionally emotive to trigger the necessary awareness on this issue to generate engagement and contributions. There was no intention to cause offence,” managing director Arnau van Achterbergh said.
According to Van Achterbergh they are monitoring responses to the commercial.
“We are open to any feedback on the commercial, however, we believe that it remains valid and is serving its important purpose of raising awareness,” he said.
