Drugs and stolen vehicle found at house in Laudium
Police searched the house and found drugs in a handbag and a stolen vehicle.

Drugs worth R7 000 in street value and a stolen Toyota Tazz were found at a house in Laudium after police were tipped-off about illegal activities taking place at a house.
Police spokeswoman Captain Reed Steynberg said police followed the tip-off of a house in White Block flats.
“Police searched the house and found drugs in a handbag.”
She said police also found a stolen vehicle on the property.
“Police discovered that the Toyota Tazz was stolen at the OR Tambo international airport in 2013.”
Steynberg said there was a problem with drugs in the Laudium area. She said the three arrested people would appear at Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court soon.
“Police visit different schools in the area accompanied by social workers to educate pupils about the dangers of drugs and we appeal to all stakeholders to assist police in fighting this drug scourge that is continuing to rip our community apart.”
She said police carry out raids at schools to ensure schools are drug free.
“In the past we used to catch pupils with drugs, but now we appeal to the community to assist the police because we cannot do it alone,” said Steynberg.
She said people had the misconception that Laudium is a drug infested area.
“We do admit there is a drug problem in Laudium, but it’s not that big, and police are trying their level best to remedy the problem,” said Steynberg.
She further added that parents came forward to assist in projects to educate the public and pupils about drugs.
“The support of parents has been overwhelming and we want more and more people to come forward and assist in helping with this problem,” said Steynberg.
She said communities must learn to trust police with information.
“Residents need to come forward with information of people dealing in drugs, that way we can give the dealers a little room to operate and soon Laudium will be drug free.”
“We hope business people in the area could also come forward and help with the drug free initiation we are trying to implement,” she concluded.
