Man in Pretoria dock over alleged R1.2m theft
A Cape Town businessman has been granted bail after appearing in a Pretoria court, as the State does not consider him a flight risk.

A 68-year-old man appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on October 6 on a charge of theft involving approximately R1.2m.
NPA spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana alleged that in 2025, Willem Adriaan Le Grange entered into an agreement with the complainant to provide fleet services for the complainant’s business during the G20 summit.
“On August 6, 2025, Le Grange allegedly requested access to the complainant’s bank accounts under the pretence that he needed to facilitate payments related to the service agreement,” Mahanjana said.
Mahanjana said that in January 2026, while accessing the company’s bank account, the complainant allegedly discovered that R1.2m had been transferred from the company’s account into Le Grange’s personal account.
“Following an internal investigation, the matter was reported to the police on February 17, and a criminal case was opened,” she said.
She said after further investigations by law enforcement authorities, Le Grange was arrested at his Cape Town residence on October 1 and brought to Pretoria to answer the charges.
Accused granted bail
The State did not oppose bail, submitting that the accused was not considered a flight risk.
“The court subsequently found that it was in the interests of justice to grant bail and released Le Grange on R20 000 bail,” Mahanjana said.
The matter was postponed to December 8 for further investigation.
