R200 000 worth of jamming devices recovered

Police arrested a man in Midrand in connection with jamming devices.

A man has been arrested, and R200 000 worth of jamming devices were confiscated when police raided a store in Midrand.

“The arrest came after a lengthy investigation on the selling of these devices,” says Brigadier Neville Malila.

Malila also said although the arrest has been made, and the devices seized, the investigation is still on-going. “This was only one part of a larger operation.”

The raid was conducted after a lengthy investigation by the national intervention unit, and the Gauteng police.

A total of 17 devices were recovered, with an estimated value of R200 000. The devices are suspected to be used in truck hijackings.

The man is in custody and will appear in court soon on charges of contravening the Electronic Communications Act.
