Versatile Mr Teen SA excels in cuisine and karate
What do cuisine and kumite have in common? Pro Arte learner Tristan Botha, of course!
Tristan Botha, a grade 11 pupil in hospitality studies at the Pro Arte Alphen Park is a chef with a kick and good looks.
After only taking karate for three months, Botha won the gold medal at the recent KSA National Development Championships in Durban and was announced national champion in the junior male 76kg section.
Botha’s first karate achievement came after two months of karate training. He received Gauteng colours when participating in the Gauteng Karate Federation Development Tournament.
This kumite star is also a successful model. Botha is the current Mr Teen Africa 2014 and won awards for Best Dressed Evening Wear, Best Interview and Best Model.
Mr Teen Africa is a working title, meaning Botha will spend his year doing charity work. He says he enjoys doing charity work in the community and did 67 minutes for Nelson Mandela by hosting a baby shower at the Tshwane Place of Safety, where he handed out baby food, nappies and clothes to the children. Later on that same day he hosted a pajama party for the children of the Re-Connect Foster Home in Constantia Park.
Botha boasts a few titles, since starting his modelling career in 2006 as Mr Tiny SA. In 2010 he became Mr Preteen SA and King of the Universe.
He dream is to study at the Stellenbosch Culinary Institute after school and become a chef on cruise ships.
