Seven robbers on the run after shooting motorist

An unsuspecting motorist was shot on Thursday night for flashing his headlights at seven armed robbers.

The man who was shot multiple times in Sinoville on Thursday night did not realise he was flashing the headlights of his car at seven armed men who had just robbed a store. He flashed the headlights because the getaway vehicles were driving recklessly.

The armed men had just robbed the MTN store in Wonderboom Junction and were making their escape down Sefako Makgatho Drive in Sinoville when an unsuspecting victim and concerned driver flashed his car’s headlights, warning them to slow down.

The robbery occurred at 17:50 and barely 10 minutes later, the robbers shot the concerned driver. The wounded man was taken to a nearby state hospital in a critical condition.

Spokesperson for Sinoville police Mirna von Benecke said the man had flashed his headlights because the drivers of both getaway vehicles were driving recklessly.

The getaway vehicles were a silver Jetta and a silver Tazz. “There was another black Tazz that we suspect served as the lookout vehicle. A lookout vehicle is responsible to inform their comrades of any possible dangers,” Von Benecke said.

No arrest has been made yet.
