Criminal activity felt a boot in the face when the Wonderboompoort police recently made various arrests throughout the precinct.
A total of 19 people were arrested for various crimes ranging from drunk in public, wanted persons, possession of drugs and the possession of an illegal firearm.
According to Warrant Officer Wanda Olivier, spokesperson for the Wonderboompoort police, four alleged drug dealers and users were arrested for the possession of heroin and CAT. “One of the alleged users had a white substance under his nose and when the police confronted him about it, he claimed he swallowed Grandpa Powder. Upon closer inspection they found CAT in his possession,” she said.
Olivier said eight people were arrested for drinking and driving, two for drunk in public and one for urinating in a public area.
She said the police also recently launched a ‘safer journey campaign’ in the Hercules area. Warrant officers Alta Rudolph and Heinrich Jansen van Vuuren issued a fine of a R1 000 to a scrap metal dealer on the borders of Wonderboompoort and Hercules who did not comply with keeping his registers and documents in order.
