Police investigate Moroccan diplomat murder

Police are investigating a murder after a Moroccan consul official was found murdered in his apartment.

Police have opened a murder case after the First Secretary from the Moroccan Embassy was found dead in a pool of blood on Tuesday afternoon.

“His body was found in an apartment he was renting in Brooklyn. He had multiple stab wounds,” provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Neville Malila told Rekord.

According to reports, the diplomat, believed to be Fatmi Noureddine, was found by his colleagues after he apparently didn’t show up for work.

“He is in his forties but we have not released a name,” Malila said.

Reports state that Noureddine’s cellphone was reported missing shortly after he was found, however, Malila could not confirm that.

“So far it seems as if nothing was missing. We are still at the early stages of investigation to determine how he was killed and what was stolen.”
