Police arrest 120 in weekend operation

The Erasmia police conducted a successful crime-busting operation this weekend, arresting 120 suspects.

One hundred and twenty people were arrested for various crimes over the weekend, the Erasmia police announced on Monday. The suspects were arrested for various crimes, including house break-in, possession of dagga, and common assault, said police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto.

“All the arrests came after police erected roadblocks and raided taverns,” said Moloto. He said some of the arrested were wanted for armed robbery.

Moloto said residents should report any criminal activities in their area to the police. All the suspects will appear at the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court once they have been formally charged.
