Repair work on faulty cables that caused a power outage in Willow Park Manor is taking longer than expected because another cable fault has been reported, Tshwane metro said on Thursday (23 October).
Lindela Masigo, the metro spokesperson, said it is believed the cable was damaged during road works in the suburb.
Willow Park Manor was plunged into darkness on Tuesday when two cable faults caused a power panel to trip inside the Willows substation. Metro’s technicians reacted swiftly to have the electricity restored to some parts of the suburb. However, several streets in Willow Park Manor and Willow Glen remained affected.
“The team of technicians will continue to work throughout the day to repair the cables and if all goes well, the technicians anticipate that power should be restored by this evening,” Masigo said. He apologised for the inconvenience.
Affected residents are urged to report power failures by SMS. Send the word ‘power’, followed by the account number to 082-612-0333 or 44676. Power failures can also be reported on 012-358-9999 (by choosing the electricity option) or 080-1111-556.
Residents are advised to treat all electrical points as live and switch off any non-essential appliances to alleviate the load on the electrical network.
