TUT student dies, another injured in brawl

A student on Saturday died and another was injured in a stabbing incident at a TUT campus

A male student died and another was seriously injured in a stabbing incident at a female residence at the Tshwane University of Technology’s (TUT) Soshanguve campus on Saturday.

Warrant officer Matthews Nkoadi, police spokesperson, said an argument between the two students flared up and they stabbed each other with knives.

“One student died at the scene and another was rushed to the George Mukhari hospital in Soshanguve,” Nkoadi said.

It is believed the fight broke out at the Alex Residence on campus.

Willa de Ruyter, TUT spokesperson, on Sunday confirmed the loss of one of its students.

De Ruyter could at the time not disclose more information.

She, however, said that in addition to the police investigation, TUT has launched an internal investigation and more details will be released soon.
