The Silver Hawk has landed
Silverton Primary School students were extremely excited about a visit from the Silver Hawk.
A special visitor landed on the soccer field of Silverton Primary School recently.
Over the last two months anticipation has been building up for the appearance of the Silver Hawk at Silverton Primary School. In August a school newsletter went out about a Silver Hawk that escaped from a school in New York.
The news article stated that the Hawk was on its way to South Africa to find a new school to bring good luck to.
Pupils of Silverton Primary School then drew pictures of what they thought the Silver Hawk would look like and wrote letters to the Silver Hawk to convince him to choose their school.
The pupils were called to the soccer field as the school apparently received a phone call from America.
The Silverton police was also present and stood at strategic places across the soccer field to help with crowd control.
A police captain gave a motivational talk to the school children about the coming exams, and while he was speaking, a helicopter appeared.
The pupils, still not knowing what to expect, screamed and waved as the helicopter landed on the field.
A man dressed in a suit got out of the helicopter and opened the door for the Silver Hawk.
The pupils waved and screamed with excitement as he made his way to the front of the crowd.
The man in the suit started to speak over the microphone and everyone recognised his American accent.
He said the Hawk came to Silverton Primary School because they had the most potential of all schools and the Silver Hawk had a message for them. The Silver Hawk said he chose to be the mascot of Silverton Primary School.
The children yelled with excitement as the principal of the school handed a Silvie shirt to the Hawk.
