Gauteng matric exams running smoothly

No hiccups have been reported so far in the matric exams in Gauteng.

The National Senior Certificate examinations are running smoothly with no hiccups reported in Gauteng, provincial education spokesperson Phumla Sekhonyane said on Tuesday.

“In Gauteng, we receive a daily report and updates from each district and so far there were no reports of irregularities. The matric exams are going well so far.”

She said the recent electricity disconnections at various schools in the city did not affect the matriculants’ final exams currently in their third week.

“The recent disconnections have not affected the exams at all. Everything is running according to plan.”

Chemistry, engineering graphics and design and economics paper 2 were written on Monday and Tuesday, with other languages, information technology and agricultural sciences to be written on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga is expected to officially announce the matric results on 5 January next year.
