Pole dancer appears in court

Pole dancer Marlize van Emmenis was granted bail of R500.

The pole dancer Marilize van Emmenis (29), the woman who featured in a sex tape with the ex-rugby Springbok Joost van der Westhuizen, appeared in the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on drug charges.

She was granted bail of R500, said Sinoville police spokesperson Mirna von Benecke.

Van Emmenis would be back in court on 6 December.

She was arrested on Monday afternoon at her boyfriend Wayne Ackerman’s house in Montana, in the north of Pretoria.

Von Benecke said Van Emmenis did not seem to be under the influence of the drugs when she was being arrested. Ackerman, who was also home, was not arrested.

Von Benecke said police received a tip-off from a man arrested earlier on Wednesday, also for the possession of drugs. The man told the police that Van Emmenis was in the possession of the drug Cat.

After the police arrived at Ackerman’s house, a house search was done and the police came across a small packet of Cat. Von Benecke said it was clear that some of the drugs in the packet had already been used.

Van Emmenis and her ex-boyfriend, Anthony de Beer, took a sex video of her and Van der Westuizen to the Rapport newspaper in 2006 in which Van Emmenis and Van der Westhuizen also made use of the drug Cat.

Von Benecke said that Van Emmenis spent Tuesday evening in a police cell at the Kameeldrift police office.
