Residents of Wolmer still waiting for low cost living houses
Residents of Wolmer are still waiting for low cost living houses that they were promised two years ago.

Numerous residents of Wolmer was promised to obtain low-cost living houses by a member of the mayoral committee (MMC) of the Tshwane metro. Two years have passed and still there is no sign of any houses.
Democratic Alliance (DA) councillor Marnette Sutherland says a councillor meeting was held on 2 October 2009 during which residents of Wolmer was promised low-cost living houses.
Sutherland said two years have passed since the meeting and still no residents have received any houses.
Sutherland said she held a meeting on 5 February at Rachel de Beer Primary School during which she approached the residents as well as metro officials to discuss this matter. Sutherland said she specifically approached MMC Joshua Ngonyama, an official from the MMC, who was the guest speaker.
Ngonyama promised that the MMC would have some houses completed for 60 residents before December 2014. Sutherland said the names of these residents were written down and all the residents had signed contracts in April this year to receive the houses. Sutherland said none of these residents have received any houses yet and it does not look as if they would soon.
Sutherland said she visited the MMC personally on Sunday and received an answer on Monday that the MMC’s officials would respond through his office. Sutherland said it is an absolute shame that the metro makes promises to residents they cannot keep.
The metro did not respond to this matter before going to press.
