Lighting in three Queenswood streets has been non-existent the past two weeks, residents said this week.
“The lack of sustained service delivery from the Tshwane metro is driving us up the walls,” said a frustrated Irene Myburgh.
“I am thankful that the lights I complained about previously were eventually repaired, but we now we have been in darkness in Grant, Stanton and Frayne streets for the last two weeks. I recently called the metro and was on the phone for about 18 minutes in vain. I was transferred from one person to another without getting any help.”
Myburgh reported two faulty street lights in March, and was by September still waiting for them to be repaired. The lights were eventually fixed.
Roelof Fourie, ward 84 councillor, said there might be a good reason for repairs taking longer than usual.
“With all the rain these days, the metro is focusing its efforts on repairing power outages rather than repairing street lights. I reckon it is a matter of prioritising what is more important for the residents.”
He advised residents to provide him with a reference number when they wanted him to investigate a complaint.
“Reference numbers help us tremendously, so I would like to urge residents to make sure they receive a reference number when they call the metro.
Comment from the Tshwane metro could not be obtained immediately.
