Dark day expected for Irene

Tshwane metro warned Irene residents that they will be without power for the rest of Saturday after two main feeder cables were stolen.

Irene residents will have to brace themselves for a day without power after two main feeder cables were stolen during the early hours today (Saturday).

According to the Tshwane metro it discovered the theft early this morning and have already dispatched a team of technicians to the site.

“Technicians have already started digging up the ground to replace the stolen cables. We are hopeful that power will be restored by tonight,” the metro said.

Muckleneuk and Sunnyside are also without power due to a power fault at one of its main feeder cables.

Technicians are currently on site repairing the power fault.
