As the rain continues to pour down over Pretoria on Sunday morning, residents have been warned of load shedding that will continue throughout the afternoon and into the evening.
Power utility Eskom on Sunday morning announced that load shedding stage 1 will commence at 08:00 and continue until 20:00.
Scheduled blackouts started on Friday as power stations were experiencing unforeseen technical problems of depleted water reserves. The water is used to generate electricity.
Stage 1 had been implemented in order to build up reserves for the week ahead.
Eskom appealed to consumers to switch off geysers, air conditioners, pool pumps and all non-essential appliances throughout the day to limit the impact of rotational load shedding.
Meanwhile the SA Weather Service said rain and cloudy conditions were expected to continue throughout the day.
Forecaster Christina Thaele said the chances of rain is only expected to drop to between 60% and 30% on Sunday evening.
