Names of matrics won’t be published with results

The tradition of publishing matriculant names with results in newspapers has been scrapped.

Matric results published in newspapers will only show the ID and exam number of the pupil and no longer a name, the department of basic education said.

This comes after decisions by the education task team to review grade 12 learners’ results during the council of education minister’s meeting on Tuesday.

““The ministers resolved that the results for this year would still be published in newspapers, but will only reflect the learners’ ID and exam numbers,” the department spokesperson Elijah Mhlanga said.
