Eskom says rumours of a total national blackout over the weekend are untrue.
The power utility told Rekord on Saturday afternoon that while load shedding will be implemented until at least late Saturday evening no national blackout is foreseen.
This comes after reports circulated on social media of a total national blackout between 20:00 and 22:30 on Saturday and Sunday.
“We have implemented load shedding at Stage 3 today and we will implement Stage 2 from 08:00 until 22:00 tomorrow. The reason for the load shedding is to avoid a blackout,” a representative of the power utility said.
Meanwhile, the Tshwane metro urges residents to switch off all nonessential appliances including pool pumps, air-conditioners, geysers and unnecessary lights to limit power consumption.
