Deep hole left unattended for 6 months

A dangerous hole has been left unattended by the Tshwane metro for six months.

A big hole in the ground dug by Tshwane metro to repair power cables in Silverton, east of Pretoria, has become a safety hazard, residents said this week.

One of them, Jacques Henrico, said the Tshwane metro had dug a hole just outside the fence of his parents’ house on the corner of Republiek and Jasmyn streets in Silverton in June.

“The metro dug about five different holes to repair power cables but never filled up the holes again. This is a very big safety hazard, especially for children.”

He said some people had started using the holes as dumping sites.

The Tshwane metro could not be reached for comment.
