Power supply constrained, but stable

Eskom says power supply is stable, but a rise in demand could change the picture.

Eskom says the power supply system is still constrained, but stable. This means there is sufficient capacity to meet current needs, but this could change should the demand rise.

“We are appealing to the public to continue using electricity sparingly to avoid us having to resort to load shedding,” Eskom said this week.

Eskom gave a few hints on how to conserve energy and use it wisely:

· Switch off geysers and pool pumps when necessary.

· Switch off all non-essential lights.

· Use air-conditioners efficiently by keeping the room temperature at 23°C.

· Adhere to the alerts on television every evening.
