Wollies Animal Project is chock full

Wollies needs your help! The animal sanctuary is full-up after a busy festive season, and they're fast running out of resources.

The Wollies Animal Project in Hesteapark is in dire need of help as the number of dogs at the haven jumped from 150 to 302 during the festive season

“At the moment, we simply cannot care for all the dogs here, and more are dropped off each day,” said Cilla Trexter of the Wollies Animal Project.

The main cause of the sudden influx was fireworks set off during the festive season and on New Year’s Eve.

“Just after Christmas, during a two-day period, 54 dogs were dropped off at the facility, and 20 of those were in one morning.”

Trexter said the facility was also running out of food.

“Generous people dropped off quite a lot of food at the facility at the beginning of December, but this was only enough for the 150 dogs we already had. Now, with 302 dogs to feed, the food is quickly running out. By the end of January, we will be in desperate need of food again.”

Trexter urged residents to help.

“Even if you can’t adopt or even foster a dog, please consider donating some dog food to the facility. Lots of dogs were brought to the facility during the festive season. If yours went missing during that time, please come and have a look, your beloved pet might just be here.”
