Poor clean up after service delivery upsetting

The lack of efforts made to clean up after Tshwane repaired pipes in Lindo Park last year, are frustrating residents in the area.

Several people in Pretoria are in a pit of frustration over a deep holes left open by municipal workers after repairs to water leaks.

Lindo Park resident Charles Davies said he reported a water leak in Sweetpea Place to the Tshwane metro in September last year.

The response was swift, but a deep hole dug to repair the leak had been left as is for nearly four months.

“This is unacceptable and very unsafe, especially for the children in the area. It is a rather deep hole too,” Davies said.

He eventually filled in the hole himself, but the paving still needed to be repaired.

Roelof Fourie, ward councillor of the area, said he had only been informed of the problem on Friday, but would report the matter and check on progress made.

“Many residents throughout Pretoria are fed up with this kind of thing. In Queenswood there are several similar holes that have been open for more than a year. It is frustrating for everyone.”

Rekord recently reported about a similar problem in Elardus Park. After water pipe repairs were done earlier this month, the metro also did not bother to clean up the mess.

Comment from Tshwane metro could not be immediately obtained.
