Metro cops back at work after their arrest
Four Tshwane metro police officers under investigation for their alleged involvement in a business robbery are back at work pending an investigation.
The four Tshwane metro police officers arrested after a business robbery in Soshanguve are back at work.
Police spokesperson Lt-Col Lungelo Dlamini said criminal charges against them had been withdrawn pending the outcome of an investigation. Once the investigation was finalised, further steps would be taken.
They were arrested on 10 January following a business robbery in Soshanguve Block T.
The four officers, one constable and three sergeants, were stationed at Mamelodi police station.
The four men allegedly drove, dressed in full uniform, with a marked police vehicle to the business and allegedly robbed the owner of R5 000 and airtime to the value of R2 500.
They were arrested the following day when they clocked-in for work.
Superintendent Kuki Tshabalala, metro police spokesperson, confirmed on Thursday that the four men were back at work.
“The department is investigating the allegations with a view to internal disciplinary procedures,” she said.
