Man kills wife then himself
A man shot and killed his wife before turning the gun on himself in Atteridgeville on Sunday.
A man shot dead his wife and then himself in Atteridgeville at the weekend while their two children were in the house.
Captain Thomas Mufamadi said the police received a complaint from residents in Magodielo Street around 13:00 on Sunday.
“Upon arriving at the house concerned, police heard four gunshots. They tried to get inside the yard but could not do so immediately as the gate was locked.”
Police eventually gained access by forcing the gate open with a crowbar, and found two bodies on the floor.
Mufamadi said a firearm was lying next to the husband and the couple was declared dead on the scene.
“Their two children were in another room when the shots were fired.”
A murder and inquest docket had been opened. The motive for the killings was not immediately clear.
