Facebook and Instagram online after blackout

The world’s most popular social media site Facebook is offline this morning leaving users across the world unable to update their statuses or share photos.

Users worldwide experienced issues connecting to Facebook and Instagram on Tuesday.

Log-in services are unavailable, leaving users unable to use the service at all.

Popular photo sharing service Instagram, which is owned by Facebook is affected as well, leaving many users in the dark. Instagram posted to Twitter saying: “We’re aware of an outage affecting Instagram and are working on a fix. Thank you for your patience.”

The cause of the outage is not known yet.

WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging service, also owned by Facebook is running normally and is not affected by the current outage.

However, Facebook-owned mobile messaging service WhatsApp is running as usual.

The last instance of Facebook going down was back in September, when the social network went down twice that month. The most recent outage lasted about 15 minutes.
