Centurion residents search for Caru-Marie

Centurion residents have embarked on a search for 14-year-old Caru-Marie Coetzee who went missing on Friday from Roohuiskraal.

Centurion residents and policing forums have formed a search party for 14-year-old Caru-Marie Coetzee who went missing on Friday night from Rooihuiskraal.

CCTV footage from a Sasol garage on Maraboe Street showed Caru-Marie enter an older model white Volkswagen Citi Golf at around 22:00 with two men. The car’s registration number was not visible on the footage.

Residents formed a search party on Saturday to search for the teenager.

Her father Herman Coetzee, told Rekord 22 vehicles were out Saturday night, searching for his daughter until 04:00 on Sunday. “We continued the search again at 06:00. We searched every possible place, mall and clubs. I am positive we will find her,” he said.

Coetzee said 5 000 flyers of his daughter’s disappearance were printed and distributed by residents on Sunday.

Caru-Marie is a grade 9 pupil from Zwartkop High School. She switched on her phone Sunday morning and contacted her boyfriend, who is also part of the search party.

“She turned on her phone twice this [Sunday] morning, sent her boyfriend a WhatsApp message saying she was okay but she didn’t respond to our messages. We will be tracing her phone,” Coetzee said.

Caru-Marie was last seen wearing tracksuit pants, a blue jacket, a black Monster cap and a black backpack. She also had an ankle guard from a recent ankle injury.

Coetzee said he was overwhelmed by the public support. “We put up a post on the Facebook group, People Who Live In Centurion, and their response and help is phenomenal. I didn’t know there were so many people who cared and could help us.”
