A Jan Blohm concert held at the Asbos Theatre on Friday night ended on a sour note.
About 50 people walked out 15 minutes into the show. The Afrikaans rock and blues singer, who barely made it on time for the concert, was seemingly intoxicated and almost fell over when he arrived at the venue.
When people started walking out Blohm was on stage with Neil Nachtrein, singing a duet.
“People walk out of shows for different reasons and it is their good right to do so. Their reasoning behind it is up to them, and influenced by a lot of variables, but it does give them a voice to show when they’re not accepting what they see or hear,” Maricá Barnard from the Asbos Theatre said.
She said Asbos accepts all artists for the people they are.
Blohm also made headlines in 2011 when his show was interrupted and cancelled by the owner of the Dorpstraat theatre in Stellenbosch. Blohm had allegedly been under the influence of alcohol.
