New inspirational, Christian film premieres
The premiere of a new, inspirational film recently took place at the Atterbury Theatre.
The Premiere of the new Christian film Forsaken was screened at the Atterbury Theater on Monday evening.
Celebrities, including Gerhard Steyn, Marisa Drummond, Hykie Berg and Ghapi, stepped out onto to the red carpet at this gala event.
Before the show, Morne Lane, co-founder of Cross Kine, spoke more about this new, exciting way to view inspirational films. “We are driven to make movies that will inspire people for generations to come,” Lane said. “Instead of taking people to the cinemas, we are taking inspirational films to the people.”
Cross Kine aims to show inspirational films at churches throughout South Africa, in order to take films that may not be viewed at commercial cinemas to the people who want to see them.
These films will then not only cost viewers a mere R35 per film, but will also provide an extra income for the churches willing to screen them. Cross Kine will be showing a different film each month. From April Forsaken will start showing.
Willie Olwage, whose life was the inspiration for Forsaken, did the acknowledgements before the show.
“I would like to thank Gerhard and Marisa for telling our story. It is such a humbling experience and we just want to thank you,” he said.
Forsaken is the true story about a young pastor’s son, played by Gerhard Steyn, who called upon God, when his two-year-old daughter fell ill. The film asks the important question, asked by so many Christians: “Where is God when you need him most?”
