NATIONAL NEWS: Cash-in-transit heist caught on camera
CCTV footage shows a cash-in-transit heist at a petrol station in Durban.
CCTV footage from a petrol station in Durban shows a cash-in-transit heist which took place on Saturday morning.
The two videos show four men robbing the Engen petrol station on Ridge Road before firing shots at the cash-in-transit van.
The first video shows an armed man in a balaclava, jumping over the till. Three Engen cashiers swiftly walked out of the shop before two other men walked in and gave the first man a bag.
The man filled the bag with cash while his accomplices pointed their firearms towards the door. The men then start firing shots towards the door.
CCTV footage from outside show two men jump out of a Toyota Corolla and run towards the cash-in-transit van with AK47s.
The men fired shots at the driver’s side of the van.
As the cash-in-transit van reverses, a total of four armed men run from the garage towards the Corolla before they fled in the car.
According to Intelligence Bureau SA, two cash-in-transit guards were shot and wounded.
