Cause of Putco bus fire
The passengers and bus driver of the Putco bus that caught fire are all unharmed. The cause of the fire is revealed.
A diesel leak was discovered to be the cause of the Putco bus going up in flames on Tuesday morning next to Van der Hoff Road. The passengers and bus driver managed to evacuate the vehicle safely. Xander Loubser from Best Care ambulance services confirmed that no injuries were sustained during the incident.
According to Superintendent Kuki Tshabalala from the Tshwane metro police, the burning bus was on the side of Van der Hoff Road near Bremer Street. “The fire was extinguished, although the bus is still lying on the side of the road. No one was hurt, as the passengers and driver managed to escape before the fire intensified.”
Tshabalala said a representative from Putco went to investigate the scene on Tuesday and found that a diesel leak had caused the fire.
A worker at a nearby factory, Sam Nkosi, said he saw the bus slowing down and stopping, and the next minute it went up in flames. “It was unbelievable what happened! I’m glad no one was hurt,” he commented.
