Heavily armed men still at large

Four men armed with 9mm handguns and AK47's are still on the run after they robbed Advanced Cash and Carry in Hermanstand on Saturday.

Police have confirmed that four armed men were still on the run after they robbed the Advanced Cash and Carry in Hermanstad early Saturday morning.

Captain Louise Steynberg, police spokesperson, said four men armed with 9mm handguns and AK47’s entered the shop and fired shots.

She said security guards returned fire. “Two men were shot and injured during the attempted robbery. One man was wounded in the abdomen and the other in the arm. Both were transported to hospital,” Steynberg said.

The wounded were a 56-year-old employee and a 42-year-old Fidelity security guard.

The four armed men fled the scene in a silver BMW and a Golf 6.
