Seven-year-old killed in pedestrian accident

Boy killed by car in Plaas Street in Claremont.

A seven-year-old boy was killed in a pedestrian accident on Plaas Street near Market Street in

Claremont on Monday afternoon.

According to NetCare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann, “paramedics and other services arrived at

the scene and found the lifeless body of the young boy lying next to the side of the road after he was

knocked over by a vehicle.”

She said: “Upon assessment of the boy, paramedics found he had died prior to their arrival due to

the extensive injuries sustained during the pedestrian accident. There was nothing further that could

be done for the young boy and he was declared dead at the scene.”

The cause of the accident is not yet known.
