Beware of criminals claiming to be police officers at your front door, police warned on Monday.
They might be bogus policemen seeking to gain entry to your home or business, said police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe.
She said four men entered a building in Block ZV Brazzaville, Atteridgeville, in this way on Friday morning.
They shot and wounded a man around 00:45.
Selepe said someone believed to be living in the building heard the door breaking before seeing the criminals who had claimed to be police officers.
“The victim saw four males who had told him they were police officers and had pistols and torches. They demanded cash and grabbed two cellphones before moving to someone in another room,” she said.
Selepe said the robbers shot the second victim in the head.
They fled with R900 in cash and cigarettes valued at R700.
She said the second victim was taken to hospital.
“We appeal to the community to be aware of suspects who identify themselves as police to occupants of homes or businesses. They target premises that contain cash and valuables.”
A business robbery docket had been opened, she said.
