The Tshwane metro police have concluded an internal investigation against a metro police officer who was recently arrested for corruption by the Pretoria North police.
Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said they have completed the investigation but cannot reveal the outcome of the investigation at this stage.
Three metro police officers were arrested by the Pretoria North police on charges of corruption. The charges were dropped against two of them but a third metro officer, Selby Ngoepe, were scheduled to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court last Thursday.
Police could not yet provide feedback on the court proceeding.
The three briefly appeared in court last Tuesday after claims that they tried to bribe a motorist. Pretoria North police arrested them the previous day.
Mngomezulu said the charges were dropped against two of the officers and Ngoepe was granted bail.
The allegation was that the metro officers pulled off a motorist at a routine roadblock in the north of Pretoria last Monday and asked to see his driver’s licence.
The metro officers allegedly asked him for money to return the licence.
“After he was allowed to drive off, the motorist laid charges against the three officers at the Pretoria North police station.”
