A man who was shot by police during a chase in Silverton is still recovering in hospital, police said on Monday.
Spokesperson Captain Jan Sepato said the wounded man who had been shot in the upper body was still recovering in hospital under police watch and expected to lead them to the arrest of two other suspects who managed to escape during the chase.
On 5 April, police chased down a suspicious looking vehicle in Silverton which had three men inside. The men started shooting at police soon after they discovered that they were being followed. After a long chase up to Nellmapius, two men jumped out of the car and ran away. The third man also tried to escape but was shot in the upper body.
Police found two stolen refrigerators, four laptop screens, two flat screen television sets, a microwave oven and a toy gun in the vehicle. The three men apparently robbed an electric appliance store in Jazmyn Street, Silverton, Sepato said earlier.
