Vigilant Moot police — whether through luck or solid police instinct – arrested a man for dealing in dagga recently.
Members from the Moot police station were on regular patrol when they saw a man getting out of a minibus taxi in Soutpansberg Road around 13:40.
Spokesperson Captain Colette Weilbach said the man was carrying a sports bag.
“The police stopped him and searched the bag. Inside the bag they discovered a smaller plastic bag with 10.9kg of dagga in it,” Weilbach said.
The man said he got the dagga from Lesotho and was on his way to Kameeldrift to sell it.
Weilbach said the 27-year-old Lesotho man was arrested and appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday on a charge of dealing in dagga.
“This success is thanks to vigilant police officers who just do their daily work,” she said.
On Thursday, police arrested a 27-year-old woman for possibly being in the possession of an illegal substance at a roadblock on the corner of Frederika Street and 15th Avenue.
The police stopped and searched various vehicles for any illegal goods and substances.
The woman was arrested and taken to the Moot police for further questioning.
A charge for the possession of suspected illegal substances were laid. “The substance will be sent away from further analysis,” Weilbach said.
