A 33-year-old mother was shot and killed in front of her two children during a hijacking in Johannesburg, provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant Kay Makhubela said on Tuesday.
This happened outside a school in Bram Fischerville, Soweto, after the mother was picking up her 12-year-old daughter on Monday afternoon, Makhubela said.
“She was with her 7-year-old son. When her daughter came into the car, two armed men approached the car and shot her in the upper body,” he said.
He said the hijackers pulled the mother and her children out of the car.
The mother died at the scene and the hijackers fled in her Toyota Corolla, said Makhubela.
He said the children were unharmed.
“We found her car abandoned in Dobsonville Extension 3 a few hours later.”
No arrests have been made and a case of murder and hijacking is being investigated, Makhubela said.
