Drug dealers busted in the north

Thirteen people were arrested for possession and usage of drugs on Tuesday in parts of Pretoria North.

Thirteen people were arrested in a drug bust in Amandasig, north of Pretoria, on Tuesday.

The raids was carried out by the Amandasig Action Group (AAG) and the Tshwane metro‘s special projects team.

AAG spokesperson Erich Landsberg said the targets were the Orchards’ park near the train station, the Wonderpark Shopping Centre‘s parking lot and an open veld on Heinrich Road.

Nine of those arrested were drug users, while four were dealing in drugs.

“One of the users was released because of his cooperation in leading us to one of the big dealers that was successfully arrested,” he said.

He said heroin, nyaope, dagga and CAT were seized as well as pipes and smoking and sniffing paraphernalia.

The men were detained by local police before being transferred to the Soshanguve police‘s holding cells, he said.

Police spokesperson Constable Reneilwe Makwalo said police were investigating.
