Policeman killed in Stinkwater
The police are looking for two armed robbers who shot and killed a police officer in his state vehicle last Thursday.

A policeman has been killed at his girlfriend’s home in Temba, north of Pretoria, police said on Monday.
Constable Sello Machete (36) was shot dead in Stinkwater on Thursday by two armed men, said provincial spokesperson Major Mack Mngomezulu.
“He died on the scene and his girlfriend suffered a slight head wound. She is receiving treatment at a local hospital,” said Mngomezulu.
“The men stole the policeman’s service pistol before driving away in his vehicle. A case of murder, attempted murder, hijacking and robbery of a firearm is being investigated.”
Machete was a member of the police’s protection service.
Mngomezulu said Machete and his girlfriend were sitting in his state vehicle when two unknown men confronted them. “A firearm was pointed at them before several shots were fired. Machete was hit in the upper body.”
The attackers then pulled him and his girlfriend out and fled in the vehicle.
It was later found abandoned a few kilometres away. Mngomezulu said the indications were that the killers were after Machete’s firearm.
An extensive search for them was underway. Police urged anyone with more information to report to the police immediately.
