Cable thieves caught

CPF and security agency arrest would-be cable thieves on Tuesday.

Two would-be cable thieves were caught in Centurion in the early hours of Tuesday.

Theo Petzer of the security firm Monitor Net said the two were arrested between 04:00 and 04:30.

“Members of the CPFs from sectors 1, 5, 7 and Monitor Net responded to a scene in Alethea Street in Lyttelton Manor were two suspects were trying to steal copper cables,” he said.

“One was arrested by the CPF and one by Monitor Net. Both were taken to the Lyttelton police station and charged.”

Lyttelton police spokesperson Warrant Officer Hero Gumbu is yet to comment on the arrest.
