Security guard nabbed after Hatfield robbery
A guard was arrested by investigating officers from the Brooklyn police station after he was found to be involved in a robbery in Hatfield.

A security guard was arrested in connection with an armed robbery at Hatfield Plaza late on Tuesday, police said.
Spokesperson Colette Weilbach said on Wednesday the robbery was committed as a security company was collecting cash at different shops inside the Hatfield Plaza around 17h25.
Three men, one armed with a firearm, confronted a guard as he was about to load the money inside the cash van.
“The suspects took six bags with an undisclosed amount of money and the security guard’s service pistol,” Weilbach said.
The three robbers ran away and the driver of the security vehicle chased after them. They dropped two of the cash bags and the stolen firearm.
“It was recovered in the street outside the shopping centre. No shots were fired and no one was injured,” said Weilbach
“The Brooklyn police immediately started investigating and evidence was found that linked the security guard, whose firearm was taken, to the crime.”
The 33-year-old guard from Mamelodi East was arrested and would appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Friday on charges of armed robbery and conspiracy to commit crime.
Weilbach said the Brooklyn police were still searching for the robbers.
