Major drug bust in Silverton

Police arrest five foreign nationals in drug bust in Silverton.

The Pretoria Flying Squad made a major drug bust in Silverton on Wednesday afternoon.
Silverton police spokesperson Captain Jan Sepato said the bust was made in Bleshoender Street.
“The police reacted on anonymous information about dealing in drugs at a house in Bleshoender Street. When they arrived at the house, five men fled from the house in different directions. Police managed to corner and arrest them,” said Sepato.
When police searched the house, they found 761g of cat and 10g of crystal meth hidden in a black plastic bag. The combined street value was R104,400. Ten cellphones were also seized.
“We suspect the cellphones were used to make drug deals. They may also be drug users’ phones that they gave away in exchange for the drugs.”
The five culprits, all foreign nationals, would be charged for dealing in drugs.
“This arrest is part of Silverton police’s active clampdown on drugs and crime in the area. This arrest was also made possible by the invaluable assistance of Safe Action Security and the community,” said Sepato.
