Snake pastor may have hypnotised congregation

A Pretoria North practising hypnotist believes Soshanguve's snake pastor may have hypnotised his congregation.

A Pretoria North practising hypnotist, Hendrik Baird, believes Soshanguve’s snake pastor, Penuel Mnguni may have hypnotised his congregation so he could control them.

In an interview with Rekord on Wednesday, Baird who practices hypnosis in Villieria said it was clear that Mnguni was controlling his congregation using group hypnotic techniques.

“Through applying ‘drop the object’-techniques, one is able to hypnotise a group of people,” Baird said.

Baird said the ‘drop the object’-technique in hypnotism can be employed using either a pen, a pencil or a coin without anyone noticing.

“It should be easy for him to do it because he can get the congregation to close their eyes for prayer,” said Baird.

He said when hypnotizing a group, at the appropriate time, one can drop the appropriate object in order to get the process started.

“As you hear the (pens or pencils, coins) dropping to the floor, it may seem a little humorous at first, but it will cause you to continue losing your mind … you will enjoy the feelings that are coming over your whole body.

“Other sounds and noises fade away and you are listening only to my voice,” said Baird.

Baird has intense experience in hypnosis and uses it to help many people to overcome their problems.

“I work from a safe home in Villieria, and use the latest hypnotic techniques,” he said.

He specialises in hypnotic cessations and weight loss.

“Hypnosis fills your life with joy, happiness and a sense of purpose,” that is apparently the filling that he seems to give to the congregation.

Contacted for comment, the controversial snake pastor Mnguni said he was in a prayer session praying for all people who were opposing him.

“People must respect my work. I work for God,” he said.

“I have a God given talent to pray and heal people. I do not go around recruiting members, people follow me,” he said dismissing any suggestions that he may have hypnotised his congregation.

Mnguni said once he was done with his two week prayer, he would reopen his church at a venue to be confirmed where he would continue his work for God.

Mnguni has also come under attack from EFF Gauteng spokesperson Ntobeng Ntobeng who accused him of preying on the poorest of the poor with his wicked methods.

Recently, the party led a march to the pastor’s church, End of Times Disciples Ministries, where they burnt the church’s tent.

“People stood up for me. They still want me in the community. They still want the church,” said Mnguni.

He said if anyone has a problem with his church then they must mind their own church’s affairs.

Ntobeng said: “This man is taking advantage of the poor people whom he knows are desperate and this is why we decided to go there to speak to him.”

He said they were also concerned about the pastor feeding his congregation snakes and rats, as the animals might have diseases.

Ntobeng said this was not the first time Mnguni was chased away by angry residents – they allege the pastor was also forced to flee from Nelspruit due to his strange methods.

“To show that the pastor was taking advantage of the poor, when we arrived at the tent, he ran away and left his deputy at the church. The deputy refused to speak to us.”

The EFF went as far as asking Mnguni’s deputy to eat rats and lizards they had brought with them, but he refused and made a run for it.

The party says they will not allow the community to be taken advantage of by pastors such as Mnguni, who used “demonic” ways to prey on the poor.
