A magical Persian night for charity
Hirsch's and Ravat's - Persian crapet gallery recently hosted a successful Persian night to raise money for charity.
A magical Persian-themed evening that resembled something out of Aladdin’s magic lamp was held at Hirsch’s Centurion recently to display an array of beautiful rugs for sale.
The evening was hosted by Hirsch’s and Ravat’s Persian carpet gallery for a charity auction in aid of the girls with dignity project that Margaret Hirsch has been involved with. The project helps young girls from disadvantaged backgrounds with sanitary products, allowing them to attend school regularly.
Ahmed Ravat from Ravat’s Persian carpet gallery did a presentation on the various types of carpets that can be bought, and explained the difference between authentic carpets as opposed to copies. He also elaborated on the use of natural dyes and the different wools, silks and cottons used in these handmade carpets.
One carpet, which was made in 1910 was put on display to demonstrate how well these carpets age. Customers were given the opportunity to view the different carpets on offer and find out more about the age and origin of the carpets.
The presentation was followed by an auction, and some lucky customers walked away with extremely well-priced carpets.
