Vat Alles members picket at municipal offices

Municipal casual workers picket outside the mayor's office in Centurion.

Members of Vat Alles staged a sit-in at the municipal office in Centurion on Monday afternoon.

Mayoral spokesman Blessing Manale told Rekord they vowed to stay until the mayor Kgosientso Ramokgopa had adressed them on their concerns.

“We are going to get a court order to get the Vat Alles members to vacate the premises, ” Manale said.

It was not known whether the mayor was at the offices at the time. No violence was reported.

Manale said he was on his way to the offices and would give further information at a later stage.

The Vat Alles members have been employed by the metro on a contract basis by the metro under the expanded public works programme of the government.
